ISR Oahu provides survival swim lessons all over Oahu. We equip children with the necessary skills to rescue themselves in the event that they are in or near water unattended. Our comprehensive water safety education is designed for the entire family, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience around water bodies.

  • ISR was founded in 1966 by Dr. Harvey Barnett with the guiding mission to ensure that “Not One More Child Drowns.”

  • Since its creation, ISR has provided over 19 million safe and effective lessons to more than 450,000 children.

  • This nationally recognized program is the first and only drowning prevention strategy that has earned a 100% safety record.

  • ISR Certified Instructors are trained through an extensive course guided by a Master Instructor, during which time the Instructor is trained and tested in the academic areas of child psychology, behavioral science, physiology, and anatomy. In addition to gaining an academic foundation, instructors engage in over 100 hours of hands on and in water practical application of technique.

Audrey Harrer

ISR Master Instructor & CEO of ISR Oahu

Audrey has over 14 years of aquatic teaching and coaching experience. She teaches in several locations on Oahu including Kalihi, Waipahu, Kailua and Kaneohe. She also travels all over Oahu to offer lessons at families private pools. She currently teaches ISR Lessons, Transition to Stroke and Swim Team Preparation. She also coaches water polo for Honolulu Water Polo Club and Punahour (PAQ). She is an active Water Safety Advocate in our community bringing drowning prevention and water safety awareness. Her passion lies in reducing the number of childhood drawings here in Hawai`i.

Deb Pyrek

ISR Instructor

Deb plays an important role of bringing ISR to Oahu. In 2008, Deb received her ISR Certification and she was the first Certified ISR Instructor here in Hawaii! She has been teaching ISR Survival Swim Lessons since 2008 and she continues to teach in the Enchanted Lake, Kailua area. She also provides Miracle Swimming for Adults which is a swim program for adults which gives adults to learn to swim who may have had a fear or water or never learned to swim. Deb believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and be water safe!

Aisha Carrett

ISR Master Instructor

Aisha was the second ISR Instructor here on Oahu and the first ISR Master Instructor here in Hawaii. She has been teaching ISR for 16 years. As a Master Instructor Aisha trains individuals to become ISR Instructors. She realized that in order to reach more children we need more Certified ISR Instructors. She has such a big heart, always going out of her way to do so much for others. Those of you who have the honor of getting to know Aisha really see how generous, kind, honest and overall good person that she truly is. Aisha currently teaches in the Kunia, Waipahu area. She continues to be an important role in giving back to our community and keeping our children water safe!

Lauren Larson

ISR Oahu Aquatics Director

As a mother of 3 young boys, it didn't take Lauren long to realize that water safety was essential for her family. Lauren initially put her oldest son through the ISR Program at 18 months. Seeing her oldest gain strength, confidence and ISR survival skills, she quickly realized that she had a passion for helping get other children water safe too. Lauren has been an Aquatic Director since 2018. We like to call her ISR Oahu's backbone. She not only helps our local ISR Oahu Instructor but also works with mainland Instructors as well. Since 2018, she has put all 3 of her boys through the ISR Oahu Program. Her passion lies with providing help, advice, resources and water safety education to moms and families all over Oahu.!
